What is Lidocaine HCl?
First,Lidocaine HCl is a potent local anesthetic and antiarrhythmic medication. It is utilized in infiltration anesthesia, epidural anesthesia, surface anesthesia (such as in thoracoscopy or abdominal surgery for mucosal anesthesia), and nerve conduction block.
Second,Lidocaine HCl is an amide-type local anesthetic.
As the dosage increases, its effects and potential toxicity also rise. At sub-toxic plasma concentrations, it exhibits anti-convulsive properties.
Blood concentrations exceeding 5μg/ml can lead to convulsions.
Third,At low doses, Lidocaine HCl facilitates the outflow of K+ in cardiomyocytes, reduces myocardial automaticity, and exerts antiarrhythmic effects.
Usage of Lidocaine HCl:
1. TopicalLidocainehas been demonstrated in some patients to alleviate the pain associated with postherpetic neuralgia (a complication of shingles), though current research is insufficient to recommend it as a first-line treatment.
2.Lidocaineis sometimes used as a temporary remedy for tinnitus. While not a cure, it has been shown to reduce the symptoms by approximately two-thirds.
3.Lidocaine Hydrochlorideinjections, administered either intravenously or intramuscularly, are specifically indicated for the acute management of ventricular arrhythmias, such as those following acute myocardial infarction or during cardiac manipulation, including cardiac surgery.
