What is Lidocaine HCl?
First,Lidocaine HCl is a highly effective local anesthetic and antiarrhythmic drug. It is widely used for infiltration anesthesia, epidural anesthesia, surface anesthesia (including mucosal anesthesia during thoracoscopy or abdominal surgery), and nerve conduction block.
Second,Lidocaine HCl is an amide-based local anesthetic.
As the dosage increases, its effects or toxicity also rise. At sub-toxic plasma concentrations, Lidocaine HCl exhibits anti-convulsive properties.
Blood concentrations exceeding 5μg/ml can induce convulsions.
Third,At low doses, Lidocaine HCl promotes K+ outflow in cardiomyocytes, reduces myocardial autonomy, and delivers antiarrhythmic effects.
Usage of Lidocaine HCl:
1. TopicalLidocainehas been shown to relieve the pain of postherpetic neuralgia (a shingles complication) in some patients, though insufficient study evidence restricts its recommendation as a first-line treatment.
2.Lidocaineis also used as a temporary remedy for tinnitus. While it doesn't completely cure the disorder, it can significantly reduce symptoms by approximately two-thirds.
3.Lidocaine Hydrochlorideinjection, administered intravenously or intramuscularly, is specifically indicated for the acute management of ventricular arrhythmias, such as those related to acute myocardial infarction or cardiac manipulation during surgery.
